This isn’t the sort of article that we would normally produce but there has been a fair amount of talk recently about Arsenal’s record with Mike Dean as referee. Some out of date stats have been bandied about so I thought I would put together the following table so that it can be used as an accurate reference point to sling some mud at the man from Wirral.

Here is a list of every Arsenal game where Mike Dean has been the referee. It looks to me like someone must have had a word in his ear in October 2004. If you’re reading this on a smartphone, you might want to turn it 90 degrees to see the whole table.

Mike Dean has been announced as the referee for the forthcoming North London Derby. It will be his 50th game in charge of Arsenal. Will he want to mark this special occasion in his own inimitable way?

The last time he refereed an Arsenal v Tottenham game he did a girly skip as he celebrated Louis Saha’s goal as shown in the video below. Keep an eye on him in the right-hand side of the picture.

Here is a breakdown of Arsenal’s record with Mike Dean as referee.

Played Won Drawn Lost
To 2 Oct 2004 11 11 (100%) 0 (0%) 0 (0%)
From 6 Nov 2004 41 10 (24%) 17 (42%) 14 (34%)
Total 52 21 (40%) 17 (33%) 14 (27%)

And here is Arsenal’s record since 16 September 2000 without Mike Dean:

Played Won Drawn Lost
621 377 (61%) 136 (22%) 108 (17%)

If Mike Dean was in charge of every Arsenal game, we would be flirting with relegation.

  1. Just to clarify, this is every Arsenal game that Mike Dean has refereed, not just those from a certain date.

  2. Can you put up the results as well?
