This season we’ve been asked to write a regular page in the official Arsenal programme based on a classic match featuring the opponents for each game we play in. Hull v Arsenal Late Fixture Change? Not as Late as in 1936

Sky Sports and The Premier League have incurred the wrath of Arsenal fans over the last week or so for changing the date of the Hull Tigers City v Arsenal game from Sunday to Saturday with only nine days’ notice. This is so that Chelsea’s game with Sunderland can be brought forward to Saturday to give them more time to prepare for their Champions League game on the following Tuesday. Read More →

The day David O’Leary was sent off (along with 3 others)

Anyone who saw David O’Leary play would agree that he was one of the games calmest players who very rarely lost his cool. The only game that I can remember him coming close to being sent off was when he broke George Armstrong’s appearance record against Norwich on 4 November 1989. He was involved in a running battle with Martin Allen who seemed intent on provoking O’Leary to react, a tactic that almost worked as the Arsenal man was booked. Read More →
